Manual Cinema – The End Of TV – Columbia Festival of the Arts | Smith Theatre • HCC / 10901 Little Patuxent Pkwy

FilmTheatre  • 8:00 p.m. — Manual Cinema may be the most fascinating theater experience you will have in 2017!  Acted as a drama with lights, shadows, actors, cinematic techniques, live music, and puppets, The End of TV weaves together the stories of three women: a union factory worker, an aspiring filmmaker, and a QVC-style TV sales host.  Together, they tell a distinctly American tale that makes this one of the hottest theater tickets in cities around the world.

Manual Cinema is a performance collective, design studio, and film/ video production company founded in 2010 by Drew Dir, Sarah Fornace, Ben Kauffman, Julia Miller, and Kyle Vegter. This immersive theatrical experience combines handmade shadow puppetry, cinematic techniques, and innovative sound and music, creating a unique multi-media performance. Using vintage overhead projectors, multiple screens, puppets, actors, live feed cameras, multi-channel sound design, and a live music ensemble, these artists take performance to new levels.
